OMA 2023 Spring Summit: The Future and Value of Interdisciplinary Care Teams in Obesity Medicine (On Demand) PB24

We are at a unique place in obesity care history where anti-obesity medications (AOMs) are showing promising, clinically significant weight loss for persons with obesity. As medications become more available to this patient population, specific tactics must be designed to support patients for long-term weight management by integrating support tools to manage nutrition, physical activity, and behavior. As more providers become interested and skilled at working with patients with obesity, they will need to consider their approaches toward designing interdisciplinary teams to support these pillars of clinical obesity treatment. Utilizing 16 years of experience in the surgical weight loss community and direct oversight of a large volume MBSAQIP-Accredited Center, Dr. Nina Crowley, a registered dietitian, health psychologist, and former surgical program coordinator, will share the latest evidence and best practices for integrating healthcare professionals on the obesity management team. Disciplines that support nutrition, behavior, and physical activity in obesity medicine practices serve to achieve optimal results for patients while reducing burnout for providers.
