Description: 

Nutrition is one of the pillars of obesity treatment. While clinicians are easily able to advise patients what NOT to eat, telling patients what to eat can be harder. This webinar focuses on helping clinicians understand the benefits of polyphenols, one group of plant-based compounds, on weight loss. By the end of this presentation, participants will be able to identify and prescribe polyphenol containing foods that are helpful in weight loss treatment, in order to help patients eat smarter, not harder.

Objectives:

1. Define what polyphenols are.

2. Review the potential mechanisms of weight loss from polyphenols.

3. Examine evidence of the weight loss effects of various polyphenols.

4. Discuss applicability to clinical practice.
