
Description: This session will focus on the integration (how, what, why, etc.) of an obesity medicine program into an existing bariatric surgical program including the ROI assessments, clinical pathway development and obesity-specific standards as it relates to the Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Accreditation and Quality Improvement Program (MBSAQIP) that an obesity medicine physician medical director would need to be familiar with.
Learning Objectives:
- Verbalize the return on investment (ROI) principles for which to communicate the need of adding obesity medicine to an existing surgical practice.
- Describe the various clinical pathways for both pre-surgical and post-surgical patients in a fully integrated community-based hospital environment.
- List the applicable Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Accreditation and Quality Improvement Program (MBSAQIP) standards that apply to obesity medicine.
