Phenotype-Guided Lifestyle Intervention for Obesity Management (Recorded)

Obesity is a chronic, relapsing, and multifactorial disease with significant individual variability in response to therapeutic interventions. This session will discuss the heterogeneity of human obesity and identifying predictors of response to weight loss interventions. Specifically, we identified four potential pathophysiologic and behavioral obesity phenotypes: abnormal satiation, abnormal postprandial satiety, abnormal emotional eating, and abnormal resting energy expenditure. We hypothesize that obesity-related phenotypes may predict weight loss to an Individualized Lifestyle intervention based on a tailored Mayo Clinic Diet program. This session will introduce preliminary data using a tailored Mayo Clinic Diet program and phenotypic guided lifestyle interventions to enhance obesity treatment outcomes.

Learning Objectives:

Describe the heterogeneity of obesity

Identify proposed obesity phenotype classifications
