Obesity Medicine 2025 - Training the Next Generation: Incorporating Obesity Medicine into GME (Recorded)
This workshop will help physician-educators develop a plan to initiate and/or expand obesity medicine education for residents and fellows at their institution with a focus on teaching pathophysiology, starting the conversation with patients, and counseling on practical lifestyle interventions via motivational interviewing, practical prescribing tips, and surgery indications. In busy training programs, finding time for a new curriculum and securing knowledgeable and experienced faculty to teach are challenges. This workshop will explore ways to expand obesity education to trainees even with limited resources. We will offer practical skills on teaching strategies based on learner education level, and address milestones as outlined through the Obesity Medicine Education Collaborative.
