Obesity Medicine 2026 - Surface Symptoms, Deeper Insights (Recorded)
Skin and hair complications are common yet often underrecognized in patients with obesity and during weight loss, carrying meaningful clinical and psychosocial consequences. Conditions such as acanthosis nigricans, psoriasis, hidradenitis suppurativa, and intertrigo can signal underlying metabolic and inflammatory dysfunction, while post-weight-loss changes, particularly hair loss, excess skin, nutrient-related dermatologic issues, and reactions to obesity medications, pose distinct challenges for both patients and providers. This session explores how integrating dermatologic assessment and treatment into obesity medicine supports comprehensive, patient-centered care and improves long-term outcomes.
