Applying Billing and Coding Using Obesity Case Scenarios
This session will discuss applying the 2021 coding changes when treating patients with obesity. New evaluation and management (E/M) coding criteria will be reviewed along updated documentation requirements. Coding and criteria for intensive behavioral counseling and preventive care will be reviewed. Other items include coding for medical nutrition therapy, prolonged services, and virtual encounters. The session will include a series of case scenarios with discussion of coding pitfalls and coding optimization.
