Obesity Medicine 2025 - Intersection of Obesity and Cancer (Recorded)
Obesity causes or contributes to over 200 diseases including at least 13 types of cancer. People with obesity are also at an elevated risk of death from cancer. Recognizing and treating obesity through the lens of precision medicine can be critical to preventing cancer and improving the treatment of some cancers. This presentation will provide the audience with an understanding of the intersecting epidemiology and pathophysiology of obesity and cancer. Using case studies, the presenters will demonstrate how to apply the information to our practices and in our interaction with our primary care colleagues.
