Obesity Medicine 2025 - Sarcopenic Obesity: A Growing Concern (Recorded)
This session will explore how women are uniquely impacted by the complex relationship between sarcopenia (loss of muscle mass) and obesity. Attendees will be able to identify the physiological changes that occur with aging and how the co-existence of sarcopenia and obesity, often called "sarcopenic obesity," poses distinct health risks for women. We will discuss lifestyle interventions, including nutrition and physical activity, that can mitigate these conditions and improve overall health outcomes. The session will also highlight gender-specific factors, such as hormonal changes and metabolic differences, that influence the development and progression of these diseases.
