Obesity Medicine 2026 - Advanced Cases - Obesity and Surgery (recorded)
Given the chronic and multifactorial nature of obesity, patients may experience varying degrees of severity in obesity over the course of their lifespan. Bariatric procedures are an important part of obesity management for patients with complex/severe obesity and should be considered in this continuum of care. Providers encountering patients who need or have had bariatric procedures should be well versed in the latest bariatric techniques, revision procedures, nutrition monitoring, post-operative complications, use of obesity medications after MBS, monitoring for behavioral health issues, criteria for referral, and how to partner with bariatric providers, which this session will explore. In addition, the lecture will highlight common challenges post-procedure that providers may encounter during a shorter and longer trajectory of time.
